Utah Cancer Control Program’s Cervical Cancer Prevention Contest

Win by blogging or tweeting about Cervical Cancer Prevention!

Simply blog or tweet about how to prevent cervical cancer, upload the link through the Registration Page, and you will be entered to win a $300 spa pass, a stay in a Park City resort, or an iPod with an iTunes gift certificate.

Utah women and men over the age of 18 can enter the contest up to ten times a day by blogging or tweeting about cervical cancer and HPV, then submitting the link here. Each contest entry must be a new blog entry or tweet. The contest is open from May 28th through June 21st. Due to the overwhelming response, the deadline for submissions has been extended until June 28!

Winners will be drawn for the weekly prizes on June 8th, June 15th, June 22nd, and June 28.

HOW TO WIN

Blog entries must include one of the following three cervical cancer and HPV prevention messages and a link to the website:
  • Cervical cancer is caused by the HPV virus. HPV is spread by skin-to-skin genital contact and chances of getting HPV can be reduced by abstaining from skin-to-skin genital contact or having fewer sexual partners. See www.cancerutah.org/prevent for more information.
  • Cervical cancer is caused by the HPV virus. Females between the ages of 9 and 26 can get an HPV vaccine that prevents 70% of cervical cancers. See www.cancerutah.org/prevent for more information.
  • To prevent cervical cancer women over the age of 18 should get regular pap tests even if they have had the HPV vaccine. See www.cancerutah.org/prevent for more information.
Tweets must also include a link to the website, hash tag, and one of the three cervical cancer and HPV prevention messages or all three such as:

Be posted on an “open” or public blog or twitter account, so contest judges can view it.
Be appropriate and accurate. UCCP reserves the right to disqualify any blog or twitter post that they find inappropriate or inaccurate.
You must be 18 years of age or older and be a Utah resident.

Official Contest Rules:

TO ENTER, YOU MUST READ THE OFFICIAL CONTEST RULES BELOW. YOU MUST ALSO AGREE TO THE RULES BY CLICKING THE CHECKBOX WHERE INDICATED WHEN SUBMITTING YOUR ENTRY.

1. ELIGIBILITY: Open only to Utah residents over the age of 18. Employees, contractors, directors, and officers of the Utah Cancer Control Program (UCCP) are not eligible to participate or win a prize.

2. CONTEST SCHEDULE: You may enter the contest between 6/01/09 and 11:59:59 pm on 6/28/09 ("Contest Entry Period").

3. TO ENTER: To enter the Contest, write a blog entry or tweet that includes at least one of the key cervical cancer or HPV prevention messages included below:

Then complete the entry form on the UCCP website www.cancerutah.org/prevent with the required registration fields including Name, E-mail, Address, Year of Birth, and a link to the blog or twitter post. Each blog or twitter post can only be submitted once for an entry in the contest. Each individual can submit up to 10 entries per day if they each correspond to different tweets or blog posts. The blog or twitter account must be “open” so it can be reviewed and determined to meet the criteria. Review these Official Rules, check the box indicating "I have read and accept the terms and conditions of this contest" and click the “Submit” button.

4. CONTEST TERMS OF SUBMISSION: As conditions of entry into this Contest, each Entrant:

  • Warrants and represents that the entrant is the owner of the blog or twitter account entered in the submission.

  • Warrants and represents that his/her submission(s) do not infringe the intellectual property, privacy or publicity rights or any other legal or moral rights of any third party, or violate applicable laws, regulations, or network standards.

  • Irrevocably grants to UCCP the unconditional and perpetual right and permission to reproduce, encode, store, copy, transmit, publish, post, broadcast, display, adapt, exhibit and/or otherwise use or reuse the Entrant's name, statements, biographical material and Submission, including, but not limited to, the blog post or tweet, as well as any additional photographic images, video images, portraits, interviews or other materials relating to the Entrant and arising out of his/her participation in this Contest (with or without using the Entrant's name) (collectively, the "Additional Materials") in any media, without limitation, and without additional review, compensation, or approval from the Entrant or any other party.

  • Forever waives any rights of privacy, intellectual property rights, and any other legal or moral rights that may preclude UCCP's use of the Entrant's Submission, or require the Entrant's permission for APHA to use them for any purpose, and agrees to never sue or assert any claim against UCCP’s use of Materials; and

  • Agrees to indemnify and hold UCCP and its respective affiliates, officers, directors, agents, and any employees, harmless from any and all claims, damages, expenses, costs (including reasonable attorneys' fees) and liabilities (including settlements), brought or asserted by any third party against any of the Indemnitees due to or arising out of the Entrant's Entry Materials or Additional Materials, or the Entrant's conduct during and in connection with this Contest.

5. SUBMISSION FORMAT AND CONTENT REQUIREMENTS:

  • If any group of individuals elects to collaborate on a Submission, they are required to designate one (1) person as the agent of the group to enter the Contest, agree to these rules and accept the prize on behalf of the group. UCCP is not liable for any disputes between collaborators arising under or related to the Contest.

  • Each Submission must be suitable for display and publication on the UCCP website (i.e., may not be obscene or indecent, including but not limited to nudity, pornography or profanity); it must not contain defamatory statements (including but not limited to words or symbols that are widely considered offensive to individuals of a certain race, ethnicity, religion, sexual orientation or socioeconomic group), it must not include threats to any person, place, business, group or world peace, it must not invade privacy or other rights of any person, firm or entity, and it must not in any other way violate applicable laws and regulations or network standards.

6. SELECTION OF WINNERS: Winners will be selected on June 8th, June15th, June 22nd, and June 28th. The winners will be randomly selected by computer from all the entrants, including repeat entries, during the three week contest entry period. The winners’ blog or tweet will be reviewed to ensure that it meets all the criteria for entry. UCCP may, in its sole discretion, remove, delete and/or disqualify Submissions deemed to be inappropriate or otherwise non-compliant. Entrants who are not over the age of 18 or not Utah residents will also be disqualified. The winner will be notified through the email they included in the entrance form. The winners’ name and blog/tweet post will also be posted on the UCCP website.
